After discovering the love of woodworking craftsmanship through his grandfather and his father at an early age, Ned has pursued this art his entire life.
Making something functional and appealing with his own two hands gives a sense of accomplishment that is hard for Ned to explain. “I guess it’s just in my DNA,” he says.
And so he has been involved in the Fine Art and Custom Framing business in Indianapolis since 1992, and a Licensed and Bonded General Contractor (#C670550) since 2003.
“Opening Pfortune Art & Design in 1996 has given me the opportunity to pursue both Fine Art decorative framing and Woodworking at the same time; it has definitely been a “win-win” situation for me,” he exclaims.
A locally grown citizen, Ned graduated from North Central High School, attending Indiana University and studying Fine Art and Advanced Studio work in all mediums from 1985 to 1990.
While at Indiana, he wrestled, played rugby and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Upon his return to Indianapolis, he took classes in small business development and training at Ivy Tech and Advanced Studio art class at IUPU-Indianapolis.
Married since 1995, he has three children and likes to stay active by enjoying nature’s offerings; fishing and boating on Lake Michigan, fly fishing, camping, hiking and mountain biking. In addition, he also enjoys coaching baseball, painting and attending sporting events with friends (Colts, Pacers and Indians games and also Indiana football and basketball).
